This delicious dark roast coffee honors the great saint, Pope John Paul II. He was born near Cracow, Poland and later entered seminary during WWII, when religious practice in Poland was forbidden by the Nazis. In 1978, after a rapid rise from priest to Bishop to Cardinal, he became Pope, reigning 27 years.
Shot in an assassination attempt, he forgave his attacker, whom he visited in prison. He was a great orator, champion of mercy, and avid outdoorsman passionate about reaching each soul and acknowledging their dignity and beauty before God.

In a nod to JP II, this Peruvian blend is bold, but leaves the bitterness behind, with a semi-sweet chocolate finish. The flavor profile features notes of fresh cedar that celebrate his love of the great outdoors, where he found God in creation. A symbolic and fitting tribute to an incredible man of God, and a comforting and delicious cup for any Catholic coffee lover.

Every Roast Has A Patron

Every blend we craft is inspired by a Catholic saint, chosen for their courage, virtue, or devotion. Just like the lives they lived, each roast has a bold, meaningful character all its own.

The modern hero of our times, Saint John Paul II’s bold holiness and dedication to the Church earned him the title “The Great.”

Entering the seminary during a time of religious persecution in Poland, John Paul II risked his life to pursue his vocation, living out his famous cry to “be not afraid!” Often writing, hiking, and skiing, even during a long and eventful papacy, Saint John Paul II demonstrated to millions the joy and vitality that accompanies a life fully in
pursuit of Christ.
